IT NEEDS TO STOP

"chup reh mote!"
"Chote log beech mai nai bolte."
"Fair and lovely try kari hai?"
Without a second thought and how easily people say such sentences. Ughhhh!
Especially people with good height, fair complexion or with good build-up!
Ever thought to what extent these kind of comments can damage or hurt someone?

Hey there! In this blog, I would like to discuss about a dimension affecting a person's mental health, Fat Shaming and bullying

"What is fat shaming?"
Fat shaming is harassing and criticizing people for their ill eating habits and overweight.
In addition to the general risks associated with being overweight and fat, another developing risk is of fat-shaming. Fat-shaming makes them feel terrible about themselves, causing them to eat more and gain more weight instead of motivating them.
It needs to stop.

People come in all shapes, colours and sizes. If someone's fat or overweight, one of the reasons and not the only reason is the lack of will power. If someone's dark in complexion, it's not their fault! In fact, it's not even a fault. Why being dark in colour is a bad thing? Calling someone short or a minion doesn't make you cool or savage, does it?

A question that must be striking ur mind till now would be "if not lack of will power, then what?"
An obvious one, genetics. Studies suggest we actually have specific areas of the brain that result in overeating. Some people's profession may require them to eat excess calories. Never ever abase someone. Everyone is fighting their own fights you know nothing about.

My message is very simple- STOP BULLYING AND TEASING.
Instead of teasing someone motivate them.

5-6 years back, I was a very skinny short guy. Nothing special to mention here, I was also teased and bullied.

"Malnourished", "chote", "jaa kuch khaa kar aa phele", "keep a coin in your pocket or else wind will blow you away" etc etc..
For bullies, it was literally no big deal to say such things.  But, I know, how it feels hearing such comments. I felt helpless. I felt awful. I felt disgusting, low on confidence and self-love.
How's this situation going to change?
It's a two-way process.
Bullies need to stop.
Start investing in your betterment.

Don't forget only you can change your life. In my case, from being kinda bullied for being skinny and short to being asked for fitness and gaining tips, I'm winning all over. So will you!
